SEND Case Officer – Middlesbrough Location: Middlesbrough (Hybrid – 2 days office-based, remainder remote)Contract: Initial 6-month Hours: Full-timeThe OpportunityService Care Solutions are currently recruiting for SEND Case Officers on behalf of Middlesbrough Council’s SEND Assessment and Review Team.This is a fantastic opportunity to join an outstanding local authority team following a Grade 1 outcome in their October 2023 Local Area SEND Inspection — demonstrating that support for children and young people with SEND in Middlesbrough typically leads to positive experiences and outcomes.If you’re an experienced professional who is passionate about supporting children and young people, and you thrive in a role where you can make a genuine difference, we’d love to hear from you.Role OverviewAs a SEND Case Officer, you’ll play a key role in delivering the statutory SEND service across Middlesbrough. You’ll be responsible for managing a varied caseload that includes:

• Children newly referred for assessment
• Children undergoing the statutory assessment process
• Children and young people with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) requiring ongoing review

You’ll continually monitor progress and ensure statutory timescales are met, working collaboratively with schools, families, and professionals to secure the best possible outcomes.Main Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain your allocated caseload efficiently and accurately.
• Prepare and write high-quality reports and documentation in line with the SEND Code of Practice.
• Work collaboratively in a multi-agency environment, maintaining strong professional relationships with partners, schools, and families.
• Represent the SEND Assessment and Review Team in meetings and reviews.
• Visit schools and educational settings as required.
• Maintain excellent record-keeping and data management to meet statutory milestones.

• Knowledgeable about the SEND Code of Practice and statutory assessment processes.
• Highly organised with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Confident working independently and as part of a supportive, collaborative team.
• Calm under pressure, optimistic, and solution-focused when facing challenges.

Working ArrangementsThis is a hybrid working role, requiring two days per week in the office, with the flexibility to work from home for the remainder of your week.
