We are currently recruiting for a Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs within a primary school setting. This is a rewarding role for someone who is patient, resilient, and passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning. You will work closely with teachers and SEN staff to provide tailored support that helps pupils regulate emotions, build confidence, and engage positively in their learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
- Support students with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development.
- Assist the class teacher in delivering adapted learning activities.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
- Help implement behaviour support plans and individual learning strategies.
- Encourage participation, independence, and positive behaviour.
- Support the creation of a safe and structured learning environment.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children with SEMH, behavioural needs, or additional needs is desirable.
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
- Patient, calm, and resilient approach.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
