Greater Manchester Police is seeking reliable and hardworking Janitors to join our Business Support Services team. You will provide an efficient janitorial service, including cleaning, portering, and minor repair works, ensuring our facilities are safe, clean, and welcoming. This is a physically active role, requiring attention to detail, initiative, and a commitment to health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • General cleaning of offices, grounds, car parks, and high-level surfaces.
  • Minor maintenance: replacing light bulbs, fixing shelves and curtain rails, painting, and small repairs.
  • Moving furniture and equipment; receiving deliveries and handling waste/refuse.
  • Winter duties including gritting car parks and walkways.
  • Setting up and breaking down rooms for meetings, seminars, and training.
  • Completing basic safety checks (fire alarms, lifts, ladders, asbestos monitoring).
  • Supporting colleagues and assisting in training new staff.
