Hours: 36 hours per week (09:00 – 17:00)
Salary / Estimated Supply Total: Β£21.81 PAYE Per Hour / Β£30.37 LTD Per Hour (Paid via an umbrella company)

About the Role The London Borough of Sutton is seeking a qualified and experienced Social Worker to join our Youth Offending Team (YOT). This role involves managing a caseload of children and young people presenting with a broad range of needs and risks associated with offending behaviour. The post holder will provide assessments, write reports, and coordinate intervention plans to reduce the risk of future offending and support positive outcomes for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of children and young people with diverse needs and risks related to offending behaviour.
  • Undertake detailed assessments and produce high-quality reports for court hearings, panels, and statutory reviews.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor intervention plans in collaboration with children, families, and multi-agency partners.
  • Provide court advice and participate in court proceedings as required, including participation in a duty rota.
  • Work closely with colleagues and partner agencies to safeguard children and support their social, emotional, and educational development.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records and ensure compliance with statutory frameworks and organisational policies.

Person Specification Essential:

  • Fully qualified Social Worker (HCPC registered).
  • Previous experience in a youth justice setting, ideally managing cases subject to out-of-court disposals and statutory court orders.
  • Experience preparing reports and attending court proceedings.
  • Strong assessment, analytical, and case management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with children with complex needs and challenging behaviour.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory guidance relating to youth justice.
  • Experience in coordinating multi-agency interventions.

Other Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS check required.
  • Flexibility to travel locally for meetings, interventions, and assessments.
  • Availability for an immediate or short-notice start preferred.
