Service Care Solutions is working with a well-known local authority based in Stockport to recruit an experienced Litigation Lawyer to join their established and award-winning Legal Services team on a permanent basis. You will join a friendly and collaborative team of ten colleagues, working within a supportive environment where professional development is encouraged and valued. You will also become an integral part of an award-winning Legal Team of up to 50 colleagues across five specialist legal sub-teams.
Location: Stockport – Hybrid Working attendance at least 2 days per week
Salary: £45,091 – £51,356 per annum (MB4) + additional benefits and pay award pending

Your Role: As a Litigation Lawyer, you will play a key role within the Litigation team, providing high-quality legal advice and representation across a broad range of regulatory and enforcement matters.
Responsibilities:
- Leading and engaging in criminal enforcement and regulatory work.
- Providing high-quality legal advice to internal council departments and stakeholders.
- Advising and representing the Council in relation to Trading Standards and Environmental Health matters.
- Dealing with breaches of enforcement notices, including matters relating to Planning.
- Advising on and dealing with Premises Licensing matters.
- Advising on Taxi and Private Hire Licensing matters.
- Managing a varied caseload from instruction through to resolution.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues and internal departments to achieve effective legal outcomes.
About you: We are looking for an experienced and confident litigator and advocate who is able to manage a varied caseload and provide high-quality legal advice.
- At least 5 years' PQE working in Litigation Law.
- A current practising certificate qualifying you to practise in England.
- Qualification as a Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEX) with litigation rights.
- Experience of criminal enforcement and/or regulatory work, gained either in private practice or within another public organisation.
- Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- A genuine desire to develop your knowledge and expertise.
- Experience across all of the areas listed above is not essential, as support and development will be provided.
- A can-do attitude, flexibility and a willingness to learn are key attributes for this role.
