Overview: Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for two experienced Social Workers to join Middlesbrough Borough Council’s Children’s Social Care Service. We have opportunities available across:

  • Kinship Assessment Team – supporting the assessment and approval process for family and connected carers.
  • Fostering Team – Supervision & Support – providing support, supervision and guidance to mainstream foster carers.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified Social Worker to join a dedicated service and contribute to achieving positive outcomes for children, young people and carers.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete high-quality assessments in line with statutory frameworks and best practice.
  • Work with children, families, carers and professionals to support safe and effective care arrangements.
  • Kinship Assessment Team:
    • Undertake assessments of family members and connected carers.
    • Explore placement options that promote stability and the best interests of children.
    • Prepare clear analytical reports and recommendations.
  • Fostering Team:
    • Provide ongoing supervision, advice and support to foster carers.
    • Promote placement stability and positive outcomes for children in care.
    • Work collaboratively with carers, children, families and partner agencies.
    • Ensure the voice of the child remains central to assessment, planning and decision‑making.
    • Maintain accurate case records and produce timely reports.
    • Work effectively within a multi‑agency environment.

Essential Requirements:

  • A recognised Social Work qualification.
  • Current Social Work England registration.
  • Experience working within statutory Children’s Social Care.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and safeguarding procedures.
  • Experience completing assessments and working with children and families.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and relationship‑building skills.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and prioritise effectively.

Desirable Experience:

  • Previous experience within Kinship, Fostering, Adoption or Connected Carer services.
  • Experience supporting foster carers through supervision and review processes.
  • Experience undertaking complex assessments and producing analytical reports.
  • Knowledge of placement planning and permanency work.
