Location: Rotherham and Barnsley. Contract type: short-term. This is a contracted Probation Officer role to support and supervise individuals within the criminal justice system.
As a Probation Officer, you will be responsible for managing caseloads, assessing risks, creating rehabilitation plans, and ensuring compliance with court orders. Your role is crucial in helping offenders reintegrate into society and reduce reoffending.
Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments of offenders’ risks and needs to develop tailored intervention plans
- Supervise offenders in the community, ensuring adherence to court orders and probation conditions
- Contribute to risk management and safety plans for vulnerable individuals
- Liaise with external agencies, including courts, social services, and mental health teams
- Document progress, prepare reports, and provide updates to supervising officers and stakeholders
- Maintain accurate case notes and ensure compliance with internal and external policies
- Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings to review cases and adjust interventions as needed
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience as a Probation Officer or similar role in the criminal justice sector
- Strong assessment and risk management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid registration or accreditation as required for a Probation Officer
- Availability to commit to a 2-week contract
