Service Care Solutions is recruiting an experienced Gardener to join the Parks Horticultural Team within Newport's Streetscene service. This role allows you to work within two prestigious and historic parks, Belle Vue Park and Beechwood Park, both Grade II listed landscapes recognised by CADW and holders of Green Flag and National Heritage status.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out a range of horticultural and grounds maintenance duties.
  • Maintain flower beds, borders, shrubs, trees, and landscaped areas.
  • Ensure parks are maintained to a high standard in line with heritage and Green Flag requirements.
  • Operate horticultural equipment and tools safely and effectively.
  • Support the wider Parks Horticultural Team in delivering quality services to the public.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures and council policies.

Working Hours

Summer: 7:30am – 3:30pm
Winter: 9:30am – 5:30pm

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous gardening, horticultural, or grounds maintenance experience.
  • Strong plant identification and horticultural knowledge.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
  • Willingness to adapt to change and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Commitment to following procedures, maintaining standards, and undertaking relevant training.
