Social Worker – Families First Team (Permanent)
Location: Trafford (Local Authority)
Salary: £37,280 – £42,839 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting on behalf of a local authority client in Trafford for an experienced Social Worker to join their Families First Team on a permanent basis. The Families First Team plays a key role within Children’s Services, undertaking all initial assessments, duty responsibilities, and Child in Need (CIN) planning and intervention work. The team works closely with families at an early stage to provide support, reduce risk, and improve outcomes for children and young people. This service is committed to maintaining a supportive working environment and places a strong emphasis on manageable caseloads, typically capped at around 20 children, enabling practitioners to deliver high‑quality, consistent social work practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertaking Child and Family Assessments in line with statutory guidance
- Managing a caseload of Child in Need cases from assessment through to closure
- Carrying out duty work, including responding to referrals and safeguarding concerns
- Developing and implementing Child in Need plans
- Working collaboratively with multi‑agency partners including schools, health professionals, and other services
- Engaging directly with children and families to assess needs, reduce risk, and promote positive outcomes
- Ensuring accurate and timely case recording in line with local authority standards
Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration
- Minimum 3 years’ permanent post‑qualified experience within children’s services
- Strong experience within Child in Need, assessment, and safeguarding work
- Excellent communication, assessment, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage a varied caseload and work effectively under pressure
