Service Care Legal is working with a South London Borough Council and is seeking an experienced and qualified Procurement Lawyer to join its legal team on a 3‑month rolling contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded local government lawyer to manage a broad procurement law caseload across a range of council service areas.
Rate: £55ph umbrella / £48.91ph PAYE incl. holiday pay / £43.64ph PAYE exc. holiday pay
Location: South London
Contract: 3 months with possibility of extension
Office attendance: 1 day per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a varied procurement and commercial law caseload
- Drafting and reviewing contracts and associated legal documentation
- Advising officers and stakeholders on procurement processes and governance matters
- Supporting the council on procurement challenges and risk management
- Providing pragmatic and commercially focused legal advice across multiple service areas
Role Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or FILEX with substantial procurement law experience
- Proven experience handling local authority procurement matters
- Strong background in contract drafting and governance advice
- Previous experience working within a local authority legal team or advising local authority clients in private practice is essential
