Urgent Care Practitioner – Out of Hours Service; Location: Wavertree Technology Park; Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday 6-hour shifts between 6:00pm – 8:00am, Weekend 24/7. Flexible hours available to suit your availability.
We are recruiting experienced clinicians with a background in telephone triage and urgent care to deliver safe and effective patient care through remote clinical assessment and decision-making. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive clinical environment where your expertise in urgent care and telephony triage will directly impact patient outcomes.
As an Urgent Care Practitioner you will provide skilled clinical assessment and telephone consultation for patients presenting with urgent healthcare needs. Working alongside Clinical Coordinators and leadership teams you will ensure safe patient management using professional clinical judgement supported by clinically based algorithms.
Key Responsibilities- Provide effective telephone triage and clinical assessment for patients accessing the service.
- Liaise with medical and nursing leadership teams to coordinate patient care and oversight.
- Manage clinical demand collaboratively with Clinical Coordinators and Shift Managers.
- Escalate concerns and high-priority patients appropriately.
- Review waiting patients to minimise clinical risk and identify suitable signposting opportunities.
- Prioritise patients using a Red Flag triage approach, including elderly, palliative, and deteriorating patients.
- Safely transfer patients between clinical pathways and dispositions where clinically appropriate.
- Deliver safe, high-quality urgent care within agreed response times.
- Extensive experience within emergency healthcare settings.
- Significant experience in telephone triage / clinical triage.
- Degree in Clinical Practice.
- Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience.
- Clinical Examination & Diagnostics Level 6/7 or relevant telephony triage experience.
- Experience working within urgent care, primary care, or similar environments.
- Competitive pay rates from £27.00 per hour (£23.84 PAYE Inc).
