Are you passionate about supporting survivors of domestic abuse and making a real impact in their lives? Manchester City Council is seeking a committed Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) to join our dedicated team.
As an IDVA, you’ll play a crucial role in providing professional advice, information, and emotional support to survivors of intimate partner violence. You will assess risk, coordinate safety plans, and work closely with partner agencies and stakeholders, including through the MARAC process, to safeguard both vulnerable adults and children.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct risk assessments and develop tailored support plans.
  • Provide expert advice and support on options available to victims.
  • Coordinate with statutory and voluntary agencies to ensure effective support.
  • Participate in the MARAC process and multi-agency safeguarding work.
  • Manage a caseload and contribute to duty services, offering guidance via face-to-face, telephone, or other communication channels.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records and performance data.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience supporting survivors of domestic abuse, ideally with knowledge of the MARAC process.
  • Emotional resilience and the ability to remain professional in challenging situations.
  • Strong communication, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • A collaborative mindset with a commitment to service improvement and equality.
  • CAADA (SafeLives) training or willingness to attend.
  • Enhanced DBS check required.
