- Income Officer – Finsbury Park, London

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Income Officer to join a housing organisation based in Finsbury Park.
This is a fully office-based role within the Income Collection team, managing rent and service charge accounts and supporting residents to sustain their tenancies.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a designated caseload of rent accounts across a range of housing tenures.
- Monitor rent arrears and credits and negotiate realistic repayment arrangements.
- Take early intervention and appropriate recovery action to prevent and reduce arrears.
- Contact residents through telephone calls, office interviews and home visits.
- Support residents experiencing financial hardship and provide guidance around Universal Credit, welfare benefits and income maximisation.
- Work with internal teams, local authorities and external agencies to help sustain tenancies.
- Prepare documentation and progress legal action where required, including possession proceedings and court representation.
- Manage former tenant arrears and liaise with tracing agents and debt collection agencies.
- Maintain accurate case notes and records across housing management and CRM systems.
- Handle income-related enquiries, complaints and complex customer cases.
Requirements
- Minimum 12 months' experience within income collection or rent arrears.
- Previous experience working within the housing sector.
- Strong knowledge of housing legislation relating to rent arrears and debt recovery.
- Experience of welfare benefits and supporting residents with financial difficulties.
- Confident negotiating payment arrangements and handling difficult conversations.
- Experience managing your own caseload and working towards income collection targets.
- Strong communication, organisation and customer service skills.
- Experience of DIY possession proceedings would be advantageous.
