We are currently recruiting for a Housing Support Worker to provide dedicated floating support to unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people across Oxford and West Berkshire, helping them transition from supported housing to independent living.

THE ROLE

  • You will be supporting vulnerable 18–21-year-old care leavers, many of whom are unaccompanied asylum seekers, by developing personalised support plans, enabling them to maintain their tenancies, gain independence, and build brighter futures.
  • Work closely with young people to develop and regularly review tailored support plans.
  • Assist with applications for social and private rented accommodation.
  • Carry out risk assessments and maintain accurate case records.
  • Liaise with partner agencies including local authorities, colleges, and support services.
  • Support clients with benefits, tenancy sustainment and community integration.
  • Identify and escalate safeguarding concerns as per procedures.
  • Manage a caseload autonomously across dispersed housing locations.

THE CANDIDATE

  • The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar housing or support role, particularly with vulnerable young people, including asylum seekers and care leavers.
  • Strong understanding of housing systems and tenancy support.
  • Experience creating support plans and completing risk assessments.
  • Confident in lone working and delivering outreach support.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle essential.
  • Beneficial but not essential: language skills in Arabic, Pashtu, Kurdish or Tigrinya.

THE CONTRACT

  • 3 Month Contract, Temp to Perm.
  • The pay for the role is £18.89 per hour LTD company rate. The PAYE equivalent is £16.10 per hour, inclusive of holiday.
  • Working hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
