Role Overview
We are currently recruiting an experienced Housing Options Officer / Advisor to join a busy Homeless Services team in Solihull on a 12-week temporary contract. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with homelessness prevention, housing options or frontline housing advice experience to make a real impact supporting vulnerable individuals and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage homelessness enquiries face-to-face, by phone, email and digital channels
- Carry out housing needs and homelessness assessments
- Develop personalised housing plans and prevention strategies
- Provide advice on homelessness legislation, housing rights and support services
- Prevent homelessness through mediation with landlords, family members and agencies
- Support households into temporary and long-term accommodation
- Manage a varied caseload and maintain accurate case notes
- Work with internal departments and external partners including social care, health and support agencies
- Ensure compliance with Housing Act 1996, Homeless Reduction Act 2017 and relevant legislation
Requirements
- Previous experience in Housing Options, Homelessness Prevention or frontline housing services
- Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation and statutory duties
- Experience managing caseloads and working to deadlines
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to support vulnerable customers with empathy and professionalism
- Strong administration and case recording skills
- Full driving licence / access to vehicle desirable
