We are currently recruiting for an experienced Housing Officer to join a housing provider in Merton on an initial 12-week temporary contract. The successful candidate will provide a customer-focused housing service, acting as a key point of contact for residents and working closely with internal teams, contractors and external partners to resolve housing, repairs and maintenance matters.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver an effective and responsive housing management service to residents
- Act as the main point of contact between residents, housing teams and contractors
- Respond to resident enquiries, complaints and service requests
- Work with repairs and maintenance teams to resolve property-related issues
- Build positive relationships with residents and local communities
- Coordinate communication regarding works, service changes and ongoing cases
- Organise resident meetings, briefings and community engagement activities
- Maintain accurate customer and case records in accordance with GDPR
- Analyse customer feedback and service data to identify trends and improvements
- Attend residents' homes, properties and meetings when required
- Ensure residents are kept informed and outstanding actions are progressed effectively
Essential experience
- Previous experience in a frontline Housing Officer or housing management position
- Experience working for a housing association, local authority or similar organisation
- Good knowledge of tenancy management and social housing services
- Experience handling complaints, resident enquiries and complex customer issues
- Understanding of repairs and maintenance services within social housing
- Strong written communication, letter-writing and report-writing skills
- Ability to build effective relationships with residents, colleagues and contractors
- Excellent organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Confident using IT systems and maintaining accurate customer records
- Ability to travel locally and occasionally attend meetings outside normal working hours
