Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced Technical Manager to join a Local Authority based in North Yorkshire. This is an excellent opportunity to support the delivery of residential development projects, managing the technical design and engineering process from planning through to completion. The role is primarily office‑based at County Hall, Northallerton, with regular visits to development sites across North Yorkshire as required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the technical design process across multiple residential development projects.
  • Coordinate architects, engineers, surveyors and external design consultants.
  • Review and coordinate architectural, engineering and technical drawings.
  • Ensure developments comply with Building Regulations, planning legislation and statutory requirements.
  • Manage planning conditions and secure approvals relating to highways, drainage and utilities.
  • Provide technical support to construction teams throughout the build process.
  • Identify and manage technical risks across development projects.
  • Monitor consultant performance, technical quality and programme delivery.
  • Manage technical budgets and identify value engineering opportunities.
  • Build effective relationships with internal departments, local authorities and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure all technical documentation is accurate, compliant and delivered in line with programme requirements.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Technical Manager or in a senior technical role within a UK residential housebuilder.
  • Strong knowledge of residential construction methods and technical design processes.
  • Excellent understanding of UK Building Regulations, planning legislation and statutory approvals.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and external consultants.
  • Ability to interpret and coordinate architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Strong project management, organisational and communication skills.
  • Commercial awareness with experience managing technical budgets.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate technical risks throughout project delivery.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel across North Yorkshire.

Desirable

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction, Architecture or a related discipline.
  • Membership of a professional body such as CIOB, ICE, RICS or CABE.
  • Experience with Section 38, Section 104, Section 278 and utility adoption agreements.
