Service Care Solutions, in partnership with Lewisham Council, is currently recruiting for a Special Investigation Officer to join the council’s Anti-Fraud and Corruption Team (A-FACT). This role is vital in upholding Lewisham’s zero-tolerance approach to fraud, corruption, and financial misconduct.
Your Role: As a Special Investigation Officer, you will lead and manage complex investigations involving:
- Allegations of fraud, corruption, and irregularity by staff, contractors, or the public
- Criminal and disciplinary proceedings, including interviews under caution (PACE)
- Preparation of prosecution files and giving evidence in court or hearings
- Use of covert surveillance (RIPA), data analysis, and intelligence gathering
- Pre-employment vetting and document verification
- Leading Lewisham’s work on the National Fraud Initiative (NFI)
What We\’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in fraud, disciplinary, or corporate investigations
- Excellent working knowledge of legislation including:
PACE, CPIA, DPA, Fraud Act, RIPA, Human Rights Act - Strong report writing and analytical skills
- Ability to manage sensitive and high-profile cases independently
- Confident liaising with police, DWP, HMRC, legal teams, and external agencies
Desirable:
- Accredited Counter Fraud Specialist (ACFS) or equivalent
- Experience working within a local authority or public sector environment
