Join the Metropolitan Police\’s dedicated Custody Healthcare Team and play a pivotal role in safeguarding the health and well-being of detainees. Role Overview: As a Custody Healthcare Practitioner, you\’ll be at the forefront of delivering comprehensive medical care within police custody suites. Your responsibilities will include: Clinical Assessments: Conduct thorough health evaluations of detainees, identifying any immediate medical needs or vulnerabilities. Mental Health Support: Manage and support individuals experiencing mental health crises, ensuring appropriate interventions are in place. Emergency Response: Provide prompt medical attention during emergencies, utilizing your expertise to stabilize and manage acute situations. Forensic Procedures: Collect and document forensic samples in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines. Collaborative Care: Work closely with custody officers, legal representatives, and external healthcare providers to ensure a holistic approach to detainee care. Essential Requirements: Professional Registration: Registered Nurse (Adult or Mental Health) or Paramedic with current NMC or HCPC registration. Experience: Minimum of 3 years post-registration experience, with demonstrable experience working within a police custody environment. Clinical Competency: Proficient in venepuncture and capable of performing this skill from the first day of appointment. Adaptability: Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and often challenging environment, maintaining professionalism and composure.
