Educated Other Than at School Worker

Crewe, Cheshire – Hybrid/Office-Based Opportunities Available – Full-Time

Are you passionate about ensuring that every child has access to a suitable education? Do you have experience working with children, young people and families, alongside schools and other professionals?

We are currently looking for a committed and confident Educated Other Than at School (EOTAS) Worker to play a vital role in supporting children and young people who are being educated outside of a traditional school setting. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in education, family support, children's services, attendance, safeguarding or multi-agency working who wants to make a genuine difference.

The Role

  • Working closely with children, young people and their families to understand their circumstances and educational arrangements.
  • Monitoring the education and wellbeing of children who are Electively Home Educated.
  • Providing advice, guidance and support to parents, schools and partner agencies.
  • Working with schools around referrals and their responsibilities relating to Elective Home Education.
  • Identifying and tracking children who may be receiving education outside of a school setting.
  • Working with Romany Gypsy and Traveller families, supporting access to suitable education and positive outcomes.
  • Using data and effective tracking systems to monitor cases and measure the impact of interventions.
  • Working alongside a range of agencies to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes.
  • Using appropriate legal procedures, including School Attendance Orders, where concerns exist around whether a child is receiving suitable education.
  • Maintaining accurate records, reports and case information.
  • Confidently challenging schools, parents and professionals where appropriate.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience of working directly with children, young people and families.
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and an understanding of relevant legislation.
  • Experience of working with schools and/or other partner agencies.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The confidence to challenge appropriately and manage difficult conversations.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload.
  • Experience maintaining accurate records and handling sensitive information.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a wider team.
  • A willingness and ability to travel across the borough when required.
  • Experience of Elective Home Education and/or supporting Romany Gypsy and Traveller communities would be highly beneficial.
