Community Development Officer Location : London Salary : £38,000 per annum Contract : 6-Month Fixed-Term Contract
We are currently recruiting for a Community Development Officer to join a leading housing organisation in London on an initial 6-month fixed-term contract.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience across community investment, employability, skills development or community engagement to design and deliver programmes that help residents build confidence, gain qualifications and progress into education, training and employment.
The Role
- Identify residents' learning and training needs through consultation, data analysis and engagement with partner organisations.
- Design, deliver and evaluate skills-based programmes including employability, digital skills, financial capability and vocational training.
- Build strong partnerships with colleges, training providers, employers, employment services and community organisations.
- Support residents to identify skills gaps, set goals and progress into training, volunteering or employment.
- Lead and support Community Investment Projects that respond to identified local needs.
- Manage projects from initial concept through to completion, including budgets, resources and communications.
- Identify and secure external funding opportunities.
- Monitor and report on project outcomes and performance against KPIs.
- Engage residents and ensure their views are represented in the design and delivery of services.
- Develop strong relationships with stakeholders including local authorities, schools, colleges, employers, voluntary organisations and businesses.
- Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone with
- Experience designing and delivering skills development or employability programmes, ideally within housing, education or a community setting.
- Strong project management experience, delivering initiatives from concept through to evaluation.
- Experience building partnerships with training providers, employers and other external stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience managing budgets and producing high-quality reports.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- The ability to analyse data and research to inform programme development.
- The ability to travel flexibly to meetings and customer locations.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends where required.
- Experience securing external funding, measuring the impact of community programmes or using approaches such as co-production or Asset Based Community Development would be advantageous.
The successful candidate will also be required to complete a Basic DBS check.
