Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for a Commercial Vehicle Technician (Level 3) to join the Transport Services team within a London Borough Council.

About the Role
Transport Services is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the council's vehicle fleet, plant and equipment, ensuring vehicles are maintained in accordance with legal requirements, manufacturer standards and agreed targets.
As a Commercial Vehicle Technician (Level 3) , you will support the Workshop Manager in ensuring the council's fleet, third-party vehicles and plant are maintained safely, effectively and cost-efficiently.
The role will involve carrying out a range of inspection, servicing, maintenance, diagnostic and repair duties to minimise vehicle downtime and ensure the fleet remains safe, compliant and operational.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out servicing, maintenance, inspections and repairs across the council's commercial vehicle fleet, plant and equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electronic faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment.
- Maintain vehicles in line with legal requirements, manufacturer specifications and operational standards.
- Carry out safety inspections and support MOT preparation and testing requirements.
- Undertake preventative and reactive maintenance to minimise vehicle downtime.
- Support the Workshop Manager with the effective and timely delivery of fleet maintenance services.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
- Maintain accurate workshop records, inspection documentation and repair reports.
- Assist with breakdown response and emergency repairs when required.
About You
- NVQ Level 3 or IMI Level 3 Heavy Motor Vehicle qualification , or equivalent.
- Proven experience as an EV Technician or similar , ideally with experience working on electric heavy vehicles/trucks.
- Nominated Tester / VOSA accreditation for MOT Classes 4–7.
- Current LGV Category C / HGV Class 2 driving license.
- Strong knowledge of commercial vehicle maintenance, diagnostics and repair.
- Good understanding of vehicle safety, legal compliance and manufacturer standards.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a workshop team.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Minimum GCSE-level standard education, including English and Maths , or demonstrable relevant experience.
- A reliable, safety-conscious and proactive approach to work.
