Operation Onyx β Investigator Vacancies
Location: Newlands Park
Positions Available: 2 Investigators
Start Date: Immediate (subject to vetting)
We are seeking two experienced investigators to support Operation Onyx, an investigation reviewing both historic and recent Directorate of Professional Standards (DPS) cases involving Police Officers or Police Staff alleged to have committed offences of Domestic Abuse or Sexual Misconduct.
Key Responsibilities
- Review of historical and recent DPS investigations into police-perpetrated domestic abuse or sexual misconduct.
- Produce high-quality briefing notes and reports for review by NPCC Officers and other senior stakeholders.
- Where necessary, conduct reinvestigations as directed by the Senior Investigating Officer (SIO).
Essential Criteria
- Security Clearance: Must hold valid Management Vetting (MV) and Security Clearance (SC).
- Proven investigative experience.
- Recent experience within a public protection environment.
- Strong prioritisation and flexibility in a dynamic work setting.
- High standard of written communication and report writing.
- Strong IT skills, especially in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Solid understanding of:
- Police Conduct Regulations
- Police Reform Act
- Police (Complaints and Misconduct) Regulations
- Police (Performance) Regulations
Desirable Criteria
- Experience handling complaints and misconduct.
- Background in safeguarding and intelligence-led investigations.
- Training or experience as a SOIT officer.
- Sapphire team casework or training.
- Experience in handling complex and sensitive investigations.
