Service Care Legal are currently seeking a Childcare Lawyer to join a busy London Local Authority. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a predominantly remote basis, with just one day per week in the office and occasional Court attendance

ROLE: Childcare Lawyer
LOCATION: London
RATE: £50–£55 per hour (Umbrella) / £48.48ph PAYE inc. holiday pay / £43.26ph exc. Holiday pay
CONTRACT: Initial 3-month contract (likely extension, 35 hours per week)

About the Role

  • Provide expert legal advice to Children’s Services on Public Law Outline (PLO) matters and advise on initiating public law care proceedings.
  • Conduct advocacy on complex childcare cases, including those with an international element, immigration considerations, capacity issues, non-accidental injuries, and large sibling groups.
  • Draft a wide range of legal documents including case summaries, case management orders, Part 25 applications, particularised thresholds, skeleton arguments, and written submissions.
  • Handle judicial review claims involving Children’s Services and Education, including drafting procedures, policies, and protocols for transitional cases.

About You

  • Qualified Solicitor with demonstrable experience in childcare and family law within a local authority setting.
  • Confident advocate with the ability to manage complex and sensitive cases.
  • Strong drafting skills and a sound understanding of public law care proceedings.
