Are you passionate about supporting children, young people, and families to overcome challenges and achieve positive outcomes?
Our client is seeking a dedicated Family Practitioner to join its Children's Services team on a short-term contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for professionals committed to making a real difference in vulnerable children's lives through restorative practice, early intervention, and family support.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with children and families using a restorative practice approach
- Lead and contribute to Early Help Assessments and family support plans
- Support children in need, those subject to Child Protection Plans, and Children in Care alongside social workers
- Deliver targeted interventions around parenting, attachment, behaviour management, conflict resolution, emotional wellbeing, and safeguarding
- Complete parenting assessments and contribute to wider assessments as required
- Organise and facilitate family meetings, professionals' meetings, and group sessions
- Develop creative support plans tailored to individual family needs
- Maintain accurate case recordings, reports, and documentation
- Build strong partnerships with external agencies for coordinated support
- Be flexible in working hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, to meet family needs
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in working with children and families (or equivalent)
- Experience working directly with vulnerable children and families in a statutory or voluntary setting
- Knowledge of child development, trauma impact, safeguarding legislation, and social care processes
- Familiarity with issues such as domestic abuse, mental health, substance misuse, and poverty
- Experience delivering parenting programmes or family interventions
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to manage conflict calmly and effectively
- Strong IT skills and accurate record-keeping
- Commitment to restorative and strengths-based approaches
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential car user role)
