An exciting opportunity has become available with a Council in the South West of England for an experienced Senior Building Surveyor to support the delivery of repairs, maintenance and refurbishment works across their education property portfolio. This role sits within the Corporate Landlord – Building Practice team and will involve managing a range of building related projects, condition surveys and planned maintenance programmes across educational assets.
Overview of the role
- Deliver building repairs, refurbishment and maintenance projects across education properties
- Undertake condition surveys and produce maintenance programmes with associated budget costing
- Ensure all works comply with current legislation and building regulations
- Manage projects under NEC4 contracts within a Hard FM environment
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, contractors and external consultants
- Take responsibility for revenue and capital budget expenditure
- Support compliance with CDM regulations and fulfil Designer responsibilities where required
- Utilise systems including SFG20, JobLogic, FastDraft and Concerto
Responsibilities
- Carry out detailed building surveys and technical inspections
- Specify works, raise orders and manage contractor performance
- Manage financial variations and project accounts
- Prioritise works programmes alongside operational stakeholders
- Ensure buildings remain safe, compliant and fit for purpose
- Support asbestos awareness and compliance procedures
- Monitor quality, programme delivery and statutory compliance
Requirements
- Proven experience within Building Surveying or Property Maintenance
- Experience delivering repairs, maintenance or refurbishment projects
- Knowledge of NEC contracts and CDM regulations
- Public sector, education, housing or FM experience desirable
- Strong understanding of statutory compliance and building legislation
- Experience managing budgets and contractor delivery
- Full UK Driving Licence preferred
- Enhanced DBS required
