Engineer (Bridges Routine Maintenance) – Yorkshire based Local Authority

We are currently recruiting for a Bridges Maintenance Engineer to support the delivery of a local authority\’s bridges and highway structures maintenance programme. This is a long-term contract opportunity offering hybrid working and a chance to work on both planned and reactive projects across a diverse structural asset portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Support routine and reactive maintenance of bridges and highway structures.
- Undertake bridge inspections (general and principal), condition surveys, and assessments.
- Contribute to the preparation of feasibility studies, design briefs, and specifications.
- Participate in procurement, supervision, and financial management of maintenance projects.
- Assist with stakeholder consultations and respond to FOIs or member/public enquiries.
- Contribute to the annual borough-wide bridge maintenance programme.
Requirements:
- Minimum Level 5 qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering (or HND with relevant experience).
- Proven experience in bridges maintenance or structural engineering.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and familiar with asset management systems and CS450 design guidance.
- ICE membership or working towards is desirable.
- Local authority or private sector experience considered.
- Must be able to work in a hybrid capacity, with office attendance and site visits as required.
