Pay - £13.45 per hour PAYE inc Holiday | £17.21 per hour Umbrella

Hours - 37 per week Monday to Friday

Service Care Solutions has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Ground Maintenance Operative to work out of Birmingham on a Temp to Perm basis. Our client is a Housing Association based in Birmingham. The role involves a 37-hour working week, delivering the duties below:

  • Undertake gardening, garden clearance and/or grounds maintenance for a range of properties in accordance with the service specification and works schedule.
  • Perform seasonal external maintenance work such as hard landscaping or fencing repairs.
  • Support the neighbourhoods team to manage our estates to the highest standards and to the satisfaction of customers.
  • Support the sustainability of neighbourhoods by maintaining high standards of presentation.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a team delivering gardening services for properties and other landlords, achieving agreed timescales and specifications.
  • Duties include grass cutting, clearance, planting, weeding and shrub maintenance using suitable hand tools and mechanical horticultural appliances.
  • Undertake external maintenance work such as slab repairs and fencing within agreed timescales.
  • Use modern technology on a mobile basis, including alarms and trackers, to support delivery of the role.
  • Proactively present schemes to the best standards possible, impacting customer views of the service and the Housing Association as the landlord.
  • Continuously seek improved value for money, supporting the Estate Services Manager to ensure the service remains competitive and viable.
  • Deliver excellent customer service, responding to enquiries positively and politely, and forwarding to relevant colleagues as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members and colleagues across the association to share information, implement best practice and improve service delivery.
  • Demonstrate the organisation's vision, values and behaviours at all times.
  • Compile accurate performance or completion information for the team manager.
  • Achieve performance targets, identify barriers and agree remedial actions with the team leader.
  • Ensure health and safety considerations are central to all activities, attending training or briefings as required and complying with risk assessments, PPE, COSHH and other safety regulations.
  • Undergo safeguarding training, recognise potential cases of abuse or neglect, and make timely referrals or take action in accordance with the Safeguarding Policy and relevant Local Safeguarding Boards.
  • Seek continuous improvement in service quality and deliver your own skills, knowledge and experience to maximise customer satisfaction and performance.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, Customer Involvement, Equality and Diversity and Safeguarding.
  • Undertake any other duties reasonably requested by the Team Leader (Grounds Maintenance).

Requirements

  • Previous Ground Maintenance experience.
  • Ability to work outside in all weathers.
  • Physically fit due to ground conditions.
  • Full UK Driving License.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 3:30pm with flexibility to work alternate weekends.
