We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Personal Advisor to join the Leaving Care Service in Tameside. This is a rewarding opportunity to support care‑experienced young people as they transition into adulthood, helping them build independence, confidence, and positive futures.

As a Personal Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in the lives of young people leaving care. Many of the young people you support will have experienced trauma, loss, and instability. Your ability to build trusting relationships, advocate effectively, and provide consistent support will be instrumental in helping them feel safe, valued, and connected.

The Role

  • Support care leavers through their transition into adulthood.
  • Develop and maintain meaningful, professional relationships with young people.
  • Complete pathway plan assessments and statutory visits.
  • Co‑produce tailored plans that reflect each young person's goals, aspirations, and needs.
  • Advocate for young people and ensure their voices, wishes, and feelings are central to decision‑making.
  • Support access to education, employment, training, housing, health services, and community resources.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies and professionals.
  • Promote safeguarding, safe care, and awareness of exploitation risks.
  • Attend reviews, meetings, supervision, training, and service development activities.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date case records in line with policy and procedure.
  • Participate in the team's office‑based duty system.

About You

Essential Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Care of Children and Young People, NNEB, BTEC or an equivalent relevant qualification.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience engaging effectively with children, young people, and families.
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Ability to undertake assessments and develop support plans.
  • Experience of recording, administration, and case management.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Commitment to anti‑discriminatory and anti‑oppressive practice.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with professionals and partner agencies.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands.
