Community Occupational Therapist – Westmorland & Furness Council
Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for a Community Occupational Therapist on behalf of Westmorland & Furness Council.
Location: Westmorland & Furness
Contract: Temporary ongoing
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 – 17:00 (37 hours per week)
Rate: £34 per hour (Umbrella) / £26.70 per hour (PAYE)
Role Overview
This is a varied and dynamic community-based role, managing a caseload that includes more complex cases. The focus is on supporting individuals to maintain independence and remain safely in their own homes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a community-based Occupational Therapy caseload, prioritising risk and need
- Complete holistic assessments to support independence and wellbeing
- Undertake moving and handling assessments and implement appropriate interventions
- Carry out functional assessments within service users’ homes
- Recommend and arrange equipment, adaptations, and seating solutions
- Support hospital discharge and work to prevent unnecessary admissions
- Work closely with health professionals, social care teams, reablement services, and partner agencies
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date case records and documentation
- Participate in supervision and service development activities
Working Arrangements
Reporting to: OT Team Manager (Westmorland & Furness)
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team
Flexible working available, with a preference for a minimum of 3 days office/community-based working
Requirements
- Qualified Occupational Therapist HCPC registered
- Experience in community or adult social care settings
- Strong assessment and communication skills
