Service Care Solutions are currently working alongside a well-established Local Authority in Cheshire who are seeking an experienced Information Rights Officer to join their team on a locum basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Information Rights professional to join a supportive team, dealing with a varied caseload relating to information governance, Freedom of Information and data protection.

  • Office Attendance: 1 day per week
  • Rate: £20.93 per hour Umbrella PAYE (Inclusive of Holiday Pay): £17.75 per hour

Responsibilities as an Information Rights Officer

  • Manage and respond to requests made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) and Environmental Information Regulations (EIR).
  • Handle Subject Access Requests (SARs) and other information rights requests in line with relevant legislation and statutory timescales.
  • Liaise with internal departments and relevant stakeholders to gather information and ensure requests are dealt with efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate records of requests, decisions and correspondence.
  • Assist with ensuring compliance with UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, FOIA and EIR.
  • Support the wider Information Governance function where required.

About you as an Information Rights Officer

  • Previous experience working within Information Rights, Information Governance, Data Protection or a similar environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of FOIA, EIR, UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
  • Experience handling Freedom of Information requests and Subject Access Requests.
  • Previous experience working within a Local Authority or public sector environment would be highly advantageous.
