Service Care Legal are seeking a highly organised and enthusiastic Legal Support Assistant to provide administrative and paralegal support to the Legal Services team of a local authority. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing day-to-day secretarial and administrative support, preparing documents and correspondence, and assisting with the management of legal documents and records.

Location: Ashford, Kent

Rate: £16.45ph umbrella (£14.94ph PAYE exc. holiday pay, £13.33ph exc. holiday pay)

Contract: 4 months, 37 hours per week

Please note that this is a full office attended role (5 days per week).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day secretarial and administrative support to all members of staff in Legal Services
  • Prepare documents, including correspondence, reports, and other documents as required
  • Assist with the management of legal documents and records, including filing, copying, and archiving
  • Support the Monitoring Officer and Deputy Monitoring Officer in respect of interests of and complaints against Councillors
  • Assist fee-earners with correspondence and document management using the Iken case management system
  • Provide paralegal support in the preparation of Court and Tribunal documentation and the service of statutory notices and other documents
  • Assist the Legal Support Officer as required with the management of the legal library and the sealing of legal documents
  • Provide assistance to the Correspondence Unit providing electronic document management and business document production when requested

Requirements:

  • Previous experience within legal administration would be preferable
  • 3 GCSE’s at grades A-C or equivalent
  • Well-organized, self-motivated, and keen to help other staff with a wide range of tasks
  • Enthusiastic and keen to learn
  • Willingness to work additional hours on occasions, to help cover for absences
  • IT skills, telephone skills, copy-typing ability, and audio-typing ability
