Service Care Solutions is recruiting on behalf of a Central Government Body in Salisbury or Fareham for a Financial Accountant. We are seeking a highly skilled professional to play a key role in financial reporting, VAT compliance, and audit coordination within a dynamic and high-profile environment. This role requires a qualified accountant (CIMA, ICAEW, ACCA, or CCAB) with a strong understanding of IFRS, FReM, and statutory accounts. If you have excellent technical expertise, a proactive approach, and the ability to manage competing priorities, we’d love to hear from you!
Main responsibilities:- Generating and submitting quarterly VAT returns in line with MOD deadlines and HMRC requirements.
- Preparing statutory financial statements in compliance with FReM and IFRS.
- Acting as the main point of contact for external auditors, maintaining reconciliations and supporting interim and final audits.
- Maintaining the Assurance Framework, providing oversight of financial information, and guiding assurance activities across the function.
- Assisting finance and operational teams with accounting, policy, and VAT issues, while liaising with MOD Head Office and other relevant bodies.
- Strong understanding of financial statutory accounts and financial reporting requirements (IFRS, FReM).
- Qualified through CIMA, ICAEW, ACCA, or another CCAB body.
- Prior experience working within the public sector.
- Competency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to present complex financial data effectively.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage conflicting priorities, and meet strict deadlines.
