Service Care Legal are working on a great opportunity for an experienced Commercial Contracts Lawyer to join a well-regarded local authority legal team on an initial 3 month contract. This role offers a chance to work on varied and meaningful projects within a supportive and high-performing public sector environment. The legal team is known for its collaborative approach and commitment to delivering high-quality legal services. The team is Lexcel accredited and places a strong emphasis on client care and professional development.
RATE: £50.00 to £55.00 per hour LTD (£48.46 PAYE inc., £43.24ph PAYE exc.)
LOCATION: North West London
CONTRACT: 3 months with possibility of extension. Please note that this role is hybrid with 2 days per week in office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a full caseload of commercial contracts and procurement matters.
- Draft and negotiate a range of commercial agreements, including construction and service contracts.
- Provide legal advice on contract disputes and public procurement issues.
- Support multidisciplinary corporate projects, offering advice on governance and legal risk.
- Advise senior officers and elected members on a variety of legal and regulatory matters.
- Handle data protection and FOI matters in relation to contracts and general governance.
About You:
- Qualified Solicitor (or equivalent) in England & Wales with a current practising certificate.
- Previous experience working within a local government legal team is essential.
- Strong background in commercial contracts, procurement law, and public sector governance.
- Familiarity with the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and the Procurement Act 2023.
- Comfortable managing a varied caseload and providing clear advice to senior stakeholders.
- Able to attend the office 2 days per week as part of a hybrid working arrangement.
