Service Care Legal are recruiting for an experienced Childcare Advocate to represent a Local Authority in public law proceedings, including complex multi-day hearings at all court levels, including the High Court. The role involves advocacy, case preparation, and strategic legal advice within a busy and supportive legal team.
Location: Surrey
Contract: Initial 6 months with possibility of extension
Rate: Umbrella Rate = £50.00ph, PAYE (excluding holiday pay) = £38.00 – £40.00ph, PAYE (including holiday pay) = £42.50 – £44.50ph
Key Duties:
- Act as advocate in childcare proceedings and related cases.
- Provide expert legal advice on evidence and case strength.
- Draft court documents (skeletons, summaries, position statements).
- Support team lawyers and manage hearing conduct and outcomes.
- Attend court and undertake casework flexibly, including outside regular hours.
- Keep clients informed and maintain high standards of legal service.
Requirements:
- Qualified Solicitor or Barrister eligible to practise in England & Wales.
- Significant experience in public child care law and advocacy.
- Strong understanding of family court processes and evidence rules.
- Skilled in legal drafting, negotiation, and working under pressure.
- Proficient in IT systems and case management tools.
- Willing to travel within the county.
