Job Description
We are recruiting for an experienced Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join a specialist team supporting an adolescent with complex learning disabilities. This role requires a highly skilled and compassionate individual with experience in managing challenging behaviours and providing consistent, person-centred support.Role: Healthcare Assistant – Learning Disabilities (Adolescent Support)Location: Newcastle (NE7)Band: 2 Hours: Day shifts only (continuity of care preferred)Duration: Ongoing – initial CV review to assess suitabilityKey Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one care and supervision in line with the individual’s care plan.
- Offer distraction and engagement therapies to promote calm, structured interactions.
- Support the young person’s emotional, social, and physical well-being through positive behaviour management techniques.
- Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team.
- Contribute to a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment.
Requirements:
- Proven experience supporting adolescents with learning disabilities in healthcare or specialist settings.
- Strong understanding of positive behaviour support and de-escalation techniques.
- Excellent communication, patience, and resilience in challenging situations.
- Commitment to continuity of care – ideally able to cover multiple day shifts.
- Current enhanced DBS and relevant mandatory training.
Additional Information:
- This is a day-only role, providing one-to-one care for a specific young person.
- We are initially collecting CVs with full employment history and relevant experience to determine the most suitable staff for this role.
