Service Care Solutions are looking for a dedicated and hardworking Street Scene Operative to join our client’s team. In this role, you will contribute to maintaining clean and well-kept public spaces by carrying out a range of environmental cleansing, horticultural, and grounds maintenance tasks. You will work independently or as part of a team to ensure a high standard of service across the borough. This role requires flexibility, as you may be asked to support other services such as waste collection and highways maintenance when required. Full training will be provided to support your development.
Key Responsibilities
- Environmental cleansing, including emptying bins, litter collection, and weed removal
- Grounds maintenance tasks, including shrub and plant care, sports pitch maintenance, and winter salting duties
- Operating and maintaining powered tools, plant, and specialist equipment
- Reporting street defects, damage, or environmental issues
- Engaging with the public and providing general assistance
- Supporting environmental campaigns and initiatives
- Completing daily record sheets and ensuring work is carried out safely and efficiently
Essential skills
- Experience in environmental cleansing, horticulture, or grounds maintenance
- Experience working outdoors in a manual role
- Understanding of health and safety regulations
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills
- Ability to interact professionally with the public
- Full UK driving licence (including the ability to drive 3.5-tonne vehicles and tow trailers)
- Basic DBS
