A client within the Public Sector based in Tyne and Wear is currently recruiting for a Building Surveyor – Damp & Mould Inspections to join their Healthy Homes Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a housing or property maintenance environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role: To carry out damp and mould inspections across the council’s housing stock, diagnose building defects, and provide technical solutions to ensure properties meet Healthy Homes standards and statutory requirements.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Undertaking detailed inspections of residential properties to identify causes of damp, mould and condensation
- Diagnosing building defects and specifying remedial works in line with current legislation and best practice
- Producing comprehensive technical reports, including photographic evidence and repair recommendations
- Liaising with tenants, contractors and internal teams to ensure works are completed effectively and to a high standard
- Monitoring completed works and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
- A relevant qualification in Building Surveying (e.g. HNC/HND, Degree in Building Surveying or equivalent)
- Membership of or working towards membership of RICS or CIOB (desirable)
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
- Strong knowledge of building pathology, particularly in relation to damp, mould and condensation
- Experience preparing specifications, schedules of works and technical reports
- Experience working within social housing or a local authority environment
- Good understanding of housing legislation and health & safety regulations
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £25 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £18 per hour PAYE).
