A client within the Public Sector based in Devon is currently recruiting for a Planning Officer to join their Development Management Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a Planning environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role: To manage a caseload of planning applications and pre-application enquiries, ensuring compliance with Development Management processes, statutory requirements and Town and Country Planning legislation, while delivering high-quality recommendations within agreed performance targets.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Managing a varied caseload of planning applications, ensuring statutory deadlines and Local Performance Indicators are met
- Assessing applications and pre-application submissions in line with planning policy and legislation
- Writing clear, well-structured reports with sound planning balance and recommendations
- Presenting applications at Planning Committee and public meetings where required
- Negotiating amendments with applicants and agents, including Section 106 agreements
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
- A relevant degree, diploma or HNC in Town Planning or related discipline
- RTPI membership
