A client within the Public Sector, based in North East Lincolnshire, is currently recruiting for a Building Control Surveyor to join their Building Control Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority building control environment.
The Role
The key purpose of the role is to ensure that buildings are designed and constructed in accordance with the Building Regulations, Building Act 1984, and associated legislation, supporting the safety, health, and wellbeing of the wider community. Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Discharging the Council’s delegated powers and duties under the Building Act 1984 and related legislation
- Managing a caseload of building control applications, including plan appraisals, site inspections, regularisation, and reversion applications
- Undertaking inspections of domestic and low-risk non-domestic buildings to ensure compliance with Building Regulations
- Investigating complaints, dangerous structures, unauthorised works, and demolition control matters
- Providing professional advice and guidance to developers, contractors, members of the public, and internal stakeholders
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
- A Level 4 or Level 5 qualification in Building Control or a related subject
- Corporate membership of a relevant professional body such as RICS or CABE
- Registration with the Building Safety Regulator, or actively working towards Class 2 A–F
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
- Strong knowledge of Building Regulations and local authority building control procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical matters clearly
- Ability to interpret architectural drawings, compile reports, and carry out site inspections
- Strong ICT skills, including the use of building control systems and Microsoft Office
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £35 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approximately £27 per hour PAYE).
