Service Care solutions are seeking an experienced Solicitor to join the Constitutional and Civil Law Division in the Scottish Government Legal Directorate, providing core advisory services to various teams. As a key member of the team, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of interesting and challenging projects, including Bills, legislation, and judicial appointments.

The post is for 6 months, with the possibility of a 6-month extension. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing focused and practical legal advice on general civil justice law, with a focus on judicial appointments and conditions of tenure
  • Advising on the Judiciary and Courts (Scotland) Act 2008 and the Courts Reform (Scotland) Act 2014
  • Working on bill work, including the Regulation of Legal Services (Scotland) Bill and potential primary legislation projects
  • Collaborating with the Scottish Government Legal Directorate employment law team on judicial and public appointments
  • Gaining experience in working with the reserved/devolved interface, general public law, ECHR, and UNCRC

We are looking for a Solicitor with:

  • Scottish practising Solicitor, with Public law experience
  • Strong legal knowledge and skills, particularly in constitutional and civil law
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

As a member of the team, you will be working closely with experienced colleagues and will have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in a supportive and dynamic environment.
