A vacancy has arisen for a Warrant Officer, Flight Lieutenant or Squadron Leader to serve as XO 11 Gp Reserves, on Part Time Volunteer Reserve (PTVR) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 07 December 2026 (or earlier/later, subject to candidate status).
The selected candidate will be responsible to SO1 UK Ops for the recruitment, selection, administration, coordination and management of the entire RAFRLO cadre.
The role provides the staff function and executive coordination for the RAFRLO, Deputy RAFRLO and Assistant RAFRLO team, ensuring that the organisation remains appropriately staffed, trained, administered and prepared to support homeland resilience and warfighting preparedness. Based at RAF High Wycombe there will be opportunity for a remote working regime to fit the selected candidates home location and the Service need.
More widely and in line with the other UK Resilience roles there will be a requirement for liaison with RN/RM, Army, and RAF units; Army Division/Brigade HQs; Navy Regional HQs; regional government; local authorities; civilian emergency services (CES); and other agencies as part of the RAF’s preparation for contingency response to natural or man-made crises. The role has the following additional specific tasks:
• Act as the focal point for all RAFRLO cadre workforce planning activity, maintaining an overview of established posts, vacancies, succession planning and employment liability.
• Coordinate all recruitment activity for RAFRLO, Deputy RAFRLO and Assistant RAFRLO appointments, including advertising, candidate engagement, liaison with the Established Reserves Pillar, HQ Reserves and administrative support to the selection process.
• Manage the end-to-end selection process for RAFRLO cadre personnel, coordinating applications, sift activity, interview arrangements, staffing actions and appointment documentation.
• Maintain oversight of all RAFRLO cadre Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), ensuring appropriate employment, contract renewals, extensions and associated administrative actions are completed in a timely manner.
• Coordinate RAFRLO cadre induction, onboarding and out-processing activities, ensuring continuity of corporate knowledge and effective handover between post holders.
• Maintain the establishment and personnel database for RAFRLO, Deputy RAFRLO and Assistant RAFRLO personnel, including appointments, contact details, location, readiness, training currency and reporting requirements.
• Coordinate annual appraisal activity, MPAR submissions, TOR reviews and associated personnel reporting requirements for the RAFRLO cadre.
• Support the management of RAFRLO cadre training requirements, maintaining oversight of mandatory and role-specific competencies and identifying training shortfalls.
• Coordinate UK Ops meetings, conferences, assurance activity, workshops and engagement events as directed by SO1 UK Resilience Ops.
• Act as the principal administrative point of contact between HQ Air, 11 Gp, Established Reserves Pillar, HQ Reserves, RAFRLO personnel and other stakeholders regarding cadre management matters.
• Provide staff support to SO1 UK Resilience Ops in the development of UK Ops policy, governance, directives, manning submissions and business cases.
• Monitor UK Ops funding allocations and staff effort management, providing advice and recommendations to SO1 UK Resilience Ops on prioritisation and resource allocation.
The role will maintain a close working relationship with RAFRLOs, Deputy RAFRLOs, Assistant RAFRLOs, Established Reserves Pillar, HQ Reserves and HQ Air staffs to ensure coherence across all cadre management activity. The role may require overnight stays for routine business, training, or to cover planned absences.
