PRIMARY PURPOSE

The primary purpose of the Operational Forecaster is to provide safe, timely and accurate 24/5 Met, Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) and environmental information to aviation at RNAS CULDROSE, and outstations IAW CSO Ch 5.

SECONDARY PURPOSE

To act as 1RO and Divisional Senior Rate to all Able Rates. To oversee training and development of Junior Forecasters and Observers.

SUPERIORS

Forecasters are accountable to SMETO, with DSMETO having line authority over all forecasters.

AUTHORITY

Forecasters are:

  • To lead the watch managing the Watch Supervisor and Observers.
  • Authorised to liaise with all Squadrons and Outstations as required to fulfil their duty.
  • Authorised to release signals and emails as tasked by the SMETO.

PRINCIPLE TASKS

Stand watches as necessary to maintain environmental tactical support to the squadrons of RNAS CULDROSE and the wider air station IAW CSOs Chapter 5.
