Subject to availability, a vacancy may arise for a Wing Commander (Any) to serve as SO1 Force Development at RAF Wittering on Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 5 January 2027.
The RAF Support Force (Spt Fce) commands the RAF’s engineering and logistics Air Combat Service Support Units and is part of the Global Enablement Force. Based at the Support Force’s Headquarters, SO1 Force Development is responsible for the conceptual and doctrinal integration of the Spt Fce, and delivery of a comprehensive Training and Exercise programme to build and demonstrate warfighting readiness.
- Lead all activities involving the RAF Strategy, Defence and Command Plan, particularly including Transition to Conflict.
- Spt Fce lead for Force Design and developing the conceptual development of the Fce for warfighting, particularly operations in the High North.
- As focal point for Air Cmd Cap Sponsor engagement, shape Capability Development activity, including testing and experimentation.
- Oversee a comprehensive training programme to assure readiness of Spt Fce FEs and personnel.
- Shape and cohere Fce Collective Training within the Air Operating Programme to deliver higher levels of Spt Fce participation.
- Direct the planning and execution of Ex AUXILIUM FORT, Global Enablement’s annual Collective Training Exercise.
- Deputise for Spt Fce COS/DComd as required.
