Subject to establishment, a vacancy may arise for a Flight Lieutenant to serve as SO3 Engagement and Communications, HQ RAF Apprenticeships at RAF Cosford on Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 11 January 2027.
This is a new and exciting position supporting the RAF Apprenticeship Programme. The postholder will lead and pro-actively manage communications promoting RAF Apprenticeships to both internal and external stakeholders, positively influencing and encouraging opportunities to publicly promote and celebrate apprentice achievements.
Flexible working arrangements may be available to allow working from an Alternative Working Address and will be open to negotiation, depending upon the needs of the Service and the individual. However, frequent travel to apprenticeship delivery locations will be required.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and coordinating internal communication activity across RAF Apprenticeships.
- Leading and coordinating external communications activity, identifying media opportunities to promote RAF Apprenticeships and celebrate apprentice and organisational achievements.
- Pro-actively procuring visual imagery to support internal and external communications activity.
- Establishing and leading the RAF Apprentice of the Year Awards, coordinating planning, delivery and promotion to recognise and celebrate outstanding apprentice achievement.
- Securing high-quality nominations for the National Apprenticeship Awards.
- Leading and managing RAF Apprenticeships’ attendance at the National Apprenticeship Awards.
- Producing and disseminating a high-quality, professional RAF Apprenticeships Newsletter.
- Liaising with recruitment and selection authority to support the provision of RAF Apprentice Ambassadors for key external engagement events for all Professions.
- Facilitating regular stakeholder engagement forums or briefings to align key apprenticeship messaging and share updates.
- Leading initiatives to modernise RAF Apprenticeships’ communication approaches in line with digital transformation goals.
- Leading the production of an annual RAF Apprenticeships media production to highlight success stories, videos, podcasts etc to showcase apprentice achievements and programme benefits.
