A vacancy has arisen for a Squadron Leader Aircrew to serve as SO2 Aircrew Profession Advisor Team (APAT) at HQ Air Command, RAF High Wycombe on Volunteer ex-Regular Reserve Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 01 February 2027.
This role requires RAF Aircrew with a wide range of experience and an extensive network of contacts to deliver SME advice at every level across Defence. The role is suitable for flexible working, but applicants should expect to attend HQ Air Command at least bi-monthly during a normal annual working pattern. - Provide bespoke policy-based advice on Aircrew-specific TCOS, Pay and Pensions to individuals.
- Liaise with the Aircrew Reserve Career Advisor where appropriate.
- Publish Aircrew-related articles on TCOS, Pay and Pensions in the Virtual Crew Room on Defence Connect and on MS Teams.
- Brief and engage with Aircrew across Defence when requested on APAT subjects.
- Assist with Aircrew TCOS Pay and Pension Policy staffing, including Quinquennial and ad hoc reviews.
- Assist with specialist advice and necessary staffing on Aircrew subjects including workforce planning, selection, recruiting, training, career management and retention.
- Assist with oversight of uniform, insignia and clothing scales pertinent to the Aircrew Profession and provide specialist input to new, or amendments to current submissions.
- Assist with cover for SO1 or SO3 APAT in their absence.
