SNCO HR Support

Full-Time On-site
S

A vacancy has arisen, subject to formal establishment approval, for a Sgt People Ops to serve as SNCO HR Support at RAF Northolt on Volunteer ex-Regular Reserve Service (VeRRs) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) employed up to 60 Reserve Service Days (RDS) per year with an initial proposed start date of 18 Jan 2027.

The 601 Sqn RAuxAF, SNCO HRSupport will be responsible to the Officer Commanding through the WO Support and Sqn XO for the routine HR support and the wider A1 administrative support to all Sqn personnel (current head account 88), the majority of whom are unpaid Honorary Gp Capt appointees, and a cadre of 11 VeRRs posts (up to OF7 rank). Although this post is located at RAF Northolt, the incumbent will be issued with a Laptop and MODNet enabled mobile phone to facilitate flexible home working from any UK location. There is a 601 Sqn Office and storage facilities at RAF Northolt, who parent the Sqn.

601 Sqn is largely collegiate and virtual in its role, with all Sqn personnel predominantly working from home. The role is also different from most HR / A1 support roles on a RAuxAF Sqn as there will be the requirement to interact diplomatically with very senior Sqn members (typically company CEO level) who work in commerce and industry who form the honorary cadre of the Sqn.

We are looking for someone who can work independently and largely on their own initiative. There will be considerable flexibility with regard to the days & hours worked, as activity can be aggregated into 2, 4, 6 and 8-hour periods. This position is therefore likely to be attractive to someone seeking such arrangements who can work predominantly from home in smaller blocks of time to meet the Sqn business demands, rather than specific set days. The post holder will also be required to travel and work at RAF Northolt and attend MOD Main Building or other adhoc locations. Typically, this will occur one day per month. On some occasions overnight travel may be required as part of this role. Service accommodation on site is the default option, however where this is not available or if impractical hotel accommodation will be sourced.

The responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide routine Sqn HR support and wider bespoke A1 support to all Honorary Group Captains, VeRRs, Alumni and Affiliate members of the Sqn as required.
  • Attend the weekly Sqn Command Group which meets virtually each Wednesday
  • Support the Sqn XO/WO Support with the HR onboarding of all new Honorary Group Captains appointments as required.
  • Ensure the current validity of security clearances is maintained for Sqn personnel.
  • Liaison with P Sy Air as required for the notification of, or approval for, travel by Sqn members to Tier 1 and Tier 2 countries.
  • Arrange routine Sqn travel primarily through the AmEx booking tool. This task will also cover the processing of manual offline T&S claims to DBS for payment.
  • Liaise with the Air Staff ITSO to arrange MODNet access and other A6 support for Sqn personnel.
  • Assist with the day-to-day management of the 601 Sqn Non-Public Fund and bank account. Raising and paying invoices for Sqn events etc.
  • Support the Sqn SO1 Engagement and SO2 Support with Sqn visits and other Sqn activities as required.
  • Help maintain the Sqn personnel database contact details and other pertinent information on the Sqn MODNet SharePoint site.
  • Act as Sqn SharePoint site administrator, liaising with Air Staff ITSO to meet the 601 Sqn SharePoint requirements.
  • Maintenance of the 601 Sqn personnel email distribution lists and WhatsApp group.
