Service Inquiry Panel 7 (22188)

Domestic Considerations: FTRS (LC) post, some travel and overnight duty away from home station may be required.

Position Role: Investigate causes of death, serious injury and self-harm in order to prevent recurrence, acting as President for Service Inquiries (SI) when required.

Responsibilities:
1. When appointed, act as SI President, incl to provide expert advice on dracting Convening Orders and Terms of Reference, regular briefing of SSIC(A) (1*) and Convening Authorities (2*) and families; design and conduct investigation; draft complex SI reports; appear as a witness in HM Coroner proceedings; line manage panel members.
2. When appointed, act as a SI Panel Member, supporting the President in delivery of an inquiry.
3. When appointed, act as a Non-Statutory Inquiry (NSI) President, conducting an investigation independantly, drawing on legal/expert advice as required.
4. Review Learning Accounts (LA), incl providing advice and guidance to the CoC; write Learning Account Reviews, incl engaging with Senior Points of Authority for proposed policy changes and with the APSG lessons team to draft recommendations, identify and report trends; make formal recommendations for convening SIs/NSIs.
5. Mentor and coach SI/NSI Presidents and panel members, including providing critical peer-evaluation of other SI reports.
6. As required, support drafting and/or reviewing of PPSI-related SOPs, SOIs, policy or other staffwork.
7. As required, brief the ALl Arms Adjutants' Course (or similar courses) on Learning Accounts/Learning Account Reviews/SIs/NSIs.
8. Support broader work within APSG and the Inquiries, Inquests and Aftercare branch to support emerging priorities or WF gaps as directed by Hd APSG.
