A vacancy has arisen for a WO (RAF Regiment Gunner) to serve as CAGE TA Range Safety Officer at RAF Honington on Full Time Reserve Service (Home Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of not before 09 February 2027.
Responsibilities:
- As the RAF Honington Airfield Training Area Range Safety Officer, the incumbent is responsible to the Head of Establishment, through Squadron Leader Operations and the Land Environment Safety Officer for the maintenance of Safe Practice and Person within the Safe System of Training on the Training Estate.
- Principle roles to include:
- Sponsoring the Stn Airfield Training Area (ATA) Standing Orders and Range Standing orders.
- Conducting and facilitating ATA and Range Safety coordination conferences and user Reconnaissance.
- Close liaison with Air Ops staffs to deconflict potential Flight Safety and Land Safety hazards.
- Gross Error Checking of planning documents as appropriate.
- Acting to pause or stop activity when the user acts in an unsafe manner.
- Production of the ATA ‘Pinks’.
- Alerting the CoC to inappropriate behaviours by end users.
- Providing a Liaison Officer function for Partner Nations and other Government department users.
- Managing Range documentation in accordance with Defence Safety Authority regulations.
- Conducting 1PA inspections of user documentation and competent persons iaw Ordnance, Munitions and Explosives (OME) Defence Safety Regulator (DOSR) Field Training Areas (FTA) regulations.
