The Armed Forces Recruiting Service (AFRS) will see MOD, Serco and their consortium of partners providing a Tri-Service recruiting solution, which for the RN will commence on 1 Apr 27. AFRS will provide end to end support from candidate attraction to assessment to preparing to join Phase 1 training. The solution will utilise Service Personnel in high value candidate facing roles in the Command and Support Unit and in recruitment, selection, Under-Represented Groups, outreach and the national career centre.

There is only 1 role for this advert. This is a 2 year commitment in an enduring position.

Unit and Position Role
  • Unit Function: The AFR will deliver integrated tri-service recruitment for the Armed Forces to build and maintain force levels able to meet Defence outputs.
  • Position Role: To provide information, guidance, and advice on all aspects of military life, roles, and career opportunities to potential candidates.
Responsibilities
  • Act as Team Member under the direction of the OR6 Careers Centre CA.
  • Act as the main point of contact for all candidates within the Contact Phase from initial enquiry through to successful completion of application.
  • Conduct 1 to 1 appointments virtually or in person to support and nurture candidates on their recruitment pathway.
  • Support the Career Centre manager in directly advising candidates on key referrals, including unsuccessful candidates at various steps.
  • Ensure process efficiency; continually monitoring the ongoing quality and governance functions to support the development and improvement of processes.
  • Ensure accurate and relevant records are created and maintained on AFRS system for all In-Service Transfers and Re-joiners.
  • Assist in administrative support activities within the Recruiting Sourcing Re-Joiners team as directed by AFR policy.
  • Support Outreach Team events, including provision of careers advice sharing personal experience of life in the AF to engage and inform candidates.
Local Considerations
  • Domestic - Role may involve irregular working hours (including rota-based weekend work with TOIL where applicable) with potential for hybrid and flexible working.
